low budget video analysis 1
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Camera work in this video is fast paced and intresting. The camera works mainly with close
up and long shots which I like as the close up shots make sure that the audience is focusing on nothing
else EG location than what fills the shot. The content of the video displays to the audience a sort of indepth look into a personal situation something thats reienforced by the the camera usiing close ups on the music ect. Long shots are also used effectively as performers are placed both left and right aswell as using the conventional centre screen placing of performers and objects. The space is used effectively in the long shots with abstract props being used in conjuction with well placed lighting to effectively fill the space.
MIS-EN-SCENE
The music videos mis-en-scene is of a very dark nature. Locations take place in dark or poorly lit areas to give a real sense of darkness and dread to the piece. The placing of the performer centre screen in the first shot with the branches surronding shows this. The use of the close ups on objects such as the music box helped reienforce the fact that this video is more focused on emotional elemeants than there modern day pop counterparts. The use of the mis-en-scene was excellent as the fast paced shots gives the audience little time to focus on the objects which allows the audience come to there own conclusion as to the role of the objects in the videos.
SOUND
The sound in the video is the performers li-syncing to a very high standard
however the performers are not always on screen lip-syncing. The physical performance
is done to an excellent standard
EDITING
Editing works well in this video and is used very effectively the fast paced nature of the shots works well with the ghosting effects used which again all contribute to the sinister mood. The quality of the editing is high for a low budget music video and there are no noticeable mistakes. The way editing is done gives the video an almost horror like element to it.
